First Steps
If you haven’t sent samples from this study before, we need you to fill out the BRAC application. This will give us all the information we need to set up the study and users in our system, and to start the process of sample collection or drop-off.
If you want us to perform an assay that isn’t currently on our list, you can request that we validate a new assay. If there is enough demand, we can look into validating a new kit or developing a new assay from scratch.
Sending Samples to the BRAC
When you send samples, you must send an excel file listing the samples in the order they are arranged in the box. The excel file should match the order and information on the tubes. Download a template to list your samples. Email the file to freezerworks@partners.org, and we will prepare to receive your samples. Samples are commonly shipped by FedEx, or hand-delivered by coordinators.
Mass General Brigham policy discourages individuals from transporting samples personally, and recommends the options below:
Turnaround Time
We can report most test results in 1-2 months. We may hold samples from several studies until we have a batch large enough to fill a kit. If you have any kind of deadline please contact us before dropping off samples. We will do our best to accommodate you, but many of our supplies take several weeks to come in.
When Testing is Complete
Once samples are completed the results can be looked up on our website. We send out invoices twice a month for any samples completed during that period. When you receive the invoice, please review your results, and let us know if there are any issues as soon as possible. Members of the study team specified in the application receive a log-in to our database in order to look up results. If you have forgotten your password or need to change your username, email Freezerworks@partners.org and we can make the changes.
Rush Fees
If you need results faster than one month from delivery, the samples may be subject to a rush fee. Please contact the lab for more information.
